I've been out of commission lately, with a badly sprained knee that keeps re-spraining and a fractured elbow. I've been so out of commission, in fact, that I couldn't even feel it. I should have sensed it, I guess. Augustana released an album back in March. Had I known I could have been listening to it while lying in bed, spot- welded to the couch, feeling like I was going out of my mind. As usual, lead singer Dan Layus is singing his heart out, unafraid of voice cracks, strains and straight up singing. Augustana may have a revolving door of members, but no matter what they always deliver good old- fashioned music, which is so needed these days. Their albums seem to get less pensive and angsty the older they get. This one is a love letter to keeping a relationship together, or perhaps to keeping a band together. Either way, I'm a happy fan. I've missed you guys...
